Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka 's Grand Blue manga went on hiatus in the February issue of Good! Kodansha 's Afternoon . The announcement reports that Inoue has been suffering from back pain due to overwork, and the manga will be on hiatus until he recovers.
Synopsis
Kitahara Iori is a young man full of energy who has just started his university life in the city of Izu, which is close to the ocean. However, upon moving to his uncle “Grand Blue’s” dive shop, Iori encounters the beautiful ocean, beautiful women and men who love to drink and dive.
Inoue and Yoshioka launched the manga in Good! Kodansha 's Afternoon in April 2014. Crunchyroll is also releasing chapters of the manga as they are released in Japan.
The Grand Blue anime stood out from other comedies for bringing a more adult side, but still with irreverent humor, bringing a frenetic comedy mixed with slice-of-life.
Ultimately, the manga inspired a 12-episode anime produced by studio Zero-G that premiered in July 2018. Amazon Prime streamed the anime worldwide as it was released. The manga also inspired a live-action film that premiered in Japan in August 2020.
