Grotesque: Film gets trailer and release date

CloverWorks studio has revealed a new trailer and visual for Grotesqqque , an original film directed by Atsushi Nishigori . The film will be released in Japanese theaters on November 6, 2027, and will also have its world premiere during the Fantasia International Film Festival, held in Montreal between July and August.

The promotional video also features the opening theme song “Shoot Shoot Shoot,”performed by the group METALVERSE. In addition, the preview showcases the three segments that make up the production, each with a distinct setting and visual style.

Grotesqqque will be an anthology film comprised of the chapters “Aeliens”, “4649 Girl”, and “Nocturne: Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni”. Each story features its own characters and independent universes, exploring different narrative styles within the same work. Confirmed cast members include Kana Ichinose, Gen Hoshino, Saori Hayami , and members of the group Nogizaka46.

The direction, screenplay, and character design are by Atsushi Nishigori, known for his work on DARLING in the FRANXX and The Idolmaster. The project is produced by JOEN, a company created in partnership between Aniplex, CloverWorks, Wit Studio , and Shueisha. The film will also feature 35 artists on the original soundtrack.
