Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX has arrived, shaking up the foundations of the Gundam universe. While it features an alternate reality filled with intense battles, what really caught fans' attention was its unconventional name. After all, how do you pronounce "GQuuuuuuX"?

To clarify this curiosity, series director Kazuya Tsurumaki shared behind-the-scenes details of the title's creation in a recent interview with ComicBook.com . As Tsurumaki explained, the name GQuuuuuuX came about unexpectedly and in a rush, shortly before the official launch.

"We wanted something that wasn't just another 'cool' mecha name. We didn't want the title to get lost among so many others in the franchise," the director commented.

So, alongside Hideaki Anno , they decided to go for something unique . The "Quuux," with multiple 'u's, functions as a generic term—something temporary, that can be replaced—and carries that same idea within the plot.

In the story, the GQuuuuuuX is the prototype Gundam piloted by Nyan, a young woman learning to master mecha combat in record time. Surprisingly, she teams up with the mysterious Shuji Ito, a pilot who commands Char's legendary Red Gundam. Together, they participate in an underground tournament for money, attracting the attention of powerful forces who watch their movements with growing interest.

Currently, Gundam GQuuuuuuX is available in the Amazon Prime Video , and despite the complicated name, the series has been winning over audiences with its high-quality animation and bold twists.

So, if you're a fan of the franchise or just curious to know what's coming next in this alternate universe, it's worth watching the episodes.
