New details regarding the story and characters of Hai-Furi, an original series by Atto (あっと), the same creator of Non Non Biyori, were published in Comic Alive magazine.
The protagonist's name is "Akeno Misaki," nicknamed Mike-chan, and is described as a cheerful and very active person. One of her catchphrases is: "Any friend from the sea is family to me!"
The story takes place in a modern-day Japan, a maritime nation where specialized schools are needed to teach essential skills for protecting the sea. The girls who study at this school become protectors of the sea and live by the motto "In the sea we live, the sea we protect, and by the sea we go.".
The next issue of Comic Vivo will reveal more details about the project, including an interview with the anime staff and more about the anime's characters.
