Half of Netflix's audience watched anime in 2021

The victory belongs to otakus around the world, at least in 2021. According to Netflix 's anime Kohei Obara , he revealed to Variety that “ more than half ” of Netflix's global audience watched “ anime content on the platform ” in 2021.

This brings the number to 90% for Japanese Netflix subscribers. His full comment:

 Anime is a cornerstone of our investment in Japan, watched by nearly 90% of our affiliates last year. At the same time, interest in anime has grown worldwide, with more than half of our global members tuning in last year.

He commented:

From diversifying our programming to bringing back fan favorites, we want our members to continue discovering and loving anime, both in Japan and around the world, with this new chapter in the anime industry on Netflix.

Netflix has revealed forty anime titles slated to premiere on the service in 2022, including new series and fan favorites. Among the titles revealed at the AnimeJapan 2022 is Thermae Romae . Other notable titles include Kotarou wa Hitorigurashi ( Kotaro Goes Live Alone ) and Rilakkuma to Yuuenchi ( Rilakkuma's Theme Park Adventure ).

Finally, films like Bubble and Ame wo Tsugeru Hyyouryuu Danchi ( Drifting Home ) from Studio Color will soon arrive on the platform.
