Written by Daisuke Satou and illustrated by Satou Shouji , the series tells a story involving young people in a world full of zombies, but with an unfinished ending in both the anime and the manga . Synopsis:
The story follows a group of students struggling to survive a global zombie epidemic . Komuro Takashi observes a strange event at the school gates: a suspicious man is causing a commotion. One of the teachers, attempting to expel him, ends up being bitten by the suspicious man, and amidst the desperate screams of the other teachers, he rises, but now he is a zombie.
Therefore, Highschool of the Dead was produced by Madhouse (Death Note, One-Punch Man) and directed by Tetsuro Araki ( Guilty Crown ).

The manga was on hiatus from the end of 2008, returning in February 2010, with some breaks between May and July 2010. Publication resumed in April 2013, but after the release of chapter 30, another hiatus was declared. However, in March 2017, the manga was suspended indefinitely due to the death of the author, Daisuke Satou , at the age of 52 .
