Japanese publisher Shueisha has released the official cover for volume 39 of HUNTER x HUNTER, which will be released in Japan on July 3, 2026. The illustration highlights Hisoka, one of the most popular and unpredictable characters in the series created by Yoshihiro Togashi.

In addition to the never-before-seen cover, the publisher also revealed the synopsis of the new volume. The publication brings together the most recent events of the Succession War arc, which continues to unfold aboard the gigantic Black Ship, the stage for disputes between princes, mobsters, and members of the Phantom Troupe.

Secrets and dangerous alliances

According to the official synopsis, the conflict between the Phantom Troupe and the mafia families continues to escalate as the intense struggle for the throne of Kakin progresses. During training led by Kurapika, Longhi reveals a secret involving Beyond Netero, information that could become a crucial piece in unraveling the course of the succession.

Hisoka returns to the center of the plot

Meanwhile, Bonolenov finally locates Hisoka, who appears engrossed in a game aboard the ship. The reunion reignites tensions surrounding the Phantom Troupe, especially after the events that made the magician the group's primary target.

The series will also return to Weekly Shonen Jump in issue 31, released on June 29th, with a new chapter and color pages to celebrate the release of the new volume. Keep following AnimeNews for more news about manga, anime, and upcoming releases from Japan.
