Spoiler alert : Boruto: Two Blue Vortex brought a three-year time jump to the series, and now Boruto is a criminal while Kawaki has everyone's support. Due to his actions, Kawaki is currently seen as a villain, but he claims he only made such a radical decision to protect his savior, Naruto . Is he really a villain or did he just make a wrong decision?
Boruto – Is Kawaki really a villain, or is that a misconception?

Kawaki found refuge in the Uzumaki family and developed a hatred for the Otsutsuki clan because Isshiki tortured him his entire life. Although Isshiki is dead, the threat of the Otsutsuki still remains in Boruto, who carries Momoshiki . Since Naruto took him in, Kawaki has become very close to the Seventh Hokage, to the point of doing anything to protect him.
So he took drastic actions like trying to kill Boruto and trapping Naruto and Hinata in another dimension to prevent them from interfering. In that sense, he will clearly be seen as a villain by others, but his motivations are not illogical. Even Boruto once agreed to the idea of killing him because of the threat of Momoshiki. Kawaki was truly mistaken in his actions, but his only intention is to protect his savior who took him in as a son. In this scenario, he walks a fine line between villain and protector.
