Japanese Debate Whether Kimetsu no Yaiba Has a Better Story Than Dragon Ball

Last week, an image caught the attention of Japanese forums comparing the progression of Hunter x Hunter , Kimetsu no Yaiba , One Piece , and Dragon Ball . Using growing trees as illustrations, the image shows the evolution of each series over the years. However, it also sparked considerable debate, as the image suggests that Kimetsu no Yaiba has a "better story" than Dragon Ball.

Japanese Debate Whether Kimetsu no Yaiba Has a Better Story Than Dragon Ball

Check it out:

Hunter x Hunter: The tree that symbolizes the Hunter x Hunter manga has a gap in its growth due to Yoshihiro Togashi . Despite this, the tree resumes its growth in a direction not directly linked to the main plot.

One Piece : In the case of One Piece, the tree forms a seemingly infinite tangle. Thus, the idea reflects the immense number of characters, plots, and subplots that Eiichiro Oda addresses in his manga.

Dragon Ball : The tree representing Dragon Ball is divided into different positions. This reflects the perception of how the series has incorporated numerous side stories so far. Thus, the image indicates that it's difficult to identify which stories are connected to the source material.

Kimetsu no Yaiba : Finally, the tree that symbolizes Kimetsu no Yaiba grows straight and coherently, without divisions or tangles. This representation highlights that Koyoharu Gotouge has a well-constructed narrative from beginning to end.

Furthermore, this image sparked debates about which manga has the best narrative structure. Opinions are divided on how the narrative was approached in each case.

Synopsis:

After defeating Upper Moon 6 in the Entertainment District, Tanjiro must travel to the Blacksmith Village to forge a new sword, as his old one has been damaged. However, along the way, he encounters new demons sent by Muzan, the main villain, with a mission to kill the blacksmiths. Without the blacksmiths, the hunters will have no swords to fight the demons. So Tanjiro and his friends must fight the demons of the Upper Moons again to stop them.

Thus, the first season of Demon Slayer premiered in April 2019 , becoming a hit with the film. The second season premiered on December 5, 2021, in Japan. Finally, the third season premiered on Crunchyroll following the release of the film To the Swordsmith Village – World Tour on February 2 in Japan.
