Last week, a TikTok video went viral claiming that Studio MAPPA used AI (Artificial Intelligence) in the animation for the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen . However, Samuel Deats , the animation director of Castlevania , responded to the video, indicating that Studio MAPPA did not use AI.

The video in question claims that MAPPA used AI to animate episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen to cut costs. However, Samuel Deats made a post about this, saying that the animators used a technique called ghosting , which does not rely on the use of AI.

The Harding Test is a test performed on sequences of images for film and television to prevent epileptic seizures in viewers. The test analyzes the sequence of frames to determine if the images pose such a risk. For the test to be successful, studios like MAPPA often use ghosting. This way, the images appear smooth in the animation and pass the Harding Test.
Synopsis:
The story follows Yuji Itadori, a high school student who becomes involved with a secret society of sorcerers called Jujutsu Kaisen, who fight against curses, evil beings that haunt the world of the living. To protect his friends and innocent people, Yuji decides to join the Jujutsu sorcerers as a trainee under the tutelage of Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer of them all.
The first season of the anime premiered in October 2020 and had 24 episodes animated by studio MAPPA . The studio also handled the animation for the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 , which takes place a few years before the main series and tells the story of young Yuta Okkotsu.
