Jujutsu Kaisen season 2: Lí Cree comments on the challenges of animating the episodes

Never let anyone tell you that animating anime , specifically Jujutsu Kaisen, is a piece of cake. Whether in the USA or Japan, making cartoons requires a lot of dedication and skill to complete. With the growing vibe of this industry, you might think you have good working conditions, but it's not even close. The thing is that the anime industry has been the target of criticism for a long time due to the schemes that go on, and after the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, a very good artist shared her 360 vision.

Lí Cree comments on the challenges of animating Jujutsu Kaisen episodes

The reports come from artist Lí Cree (animator), who shared a video on YouTube telling everything about the job in the 2nd season of the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. The video shows Cree's role in the anime during this last season. In the interview she provided some parts in episodes 36 and 39 . And even though they said that the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen was punk, Lí Cree made it clear that MAPPA Studios does not deserve the negative criticism from fans.

Check out the full explanation:

“What I experienced on the program was... yes, it was intense, even compared to other animes I've worked on. It wasn't cool. There's no other way to say it, it just wasn't cool. But when I compare it to working on an American production, it starts to border on violating labor laws by American standards. However, if I compare it to the work in other Japanese studios I've been to, it was pretty bad. Still, I'm grateful for the experience, because few people in the world can say they worked on Jujutsu Kaisen. I'm not going to criticize it for what it was,” explained Cree .

As the video continues, Cree opens up about some difficulties he faced while working on Jujutsu Kaisen. From super-tight deadlines to last-minute assignments, MAPPA Studios was in full swing during the Shibuya Incident arc. Cree goes on to talk about the challenge of balancing work and personal life when it comes to anime. This thing that takes so many part-time freelancers that you can only imagine how divided full-time anime artists are.

There is no easy solution to the problems that are happening in the anime industry, but exhaustion is already rampant. The popularity of this medium has caused studios to produce more, but artists can only take so much. The resistance that MAPPA Studios faced from artists in the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen is not at all unique; It just happened to be a high-profile show that gave the animators a stage to get real.
