No. 9's true mission
After Kafka defeats one of No. 9's variants, headquarters celebrates the apparent victory. However, Narumi suspects the enemy had a bigger plan. Her suspicions are confirmed when headquarters detects another Kaiju signal. No. 9's main body emerges from an analyst inside the base, and Isao realizes its objective is to steal the No. 2 combat equipment .
Confrontation in central command
While ordering the evacuation, Isao faces the enemy alone. Even with all of Number 2's strength, he realizes that Number 9 has evolved beyond the Defense Force's expectations. Determined to eliminate the threat to protect his daughter, Kikoru, Isao surpasses his own limits and unleashes devastating attacks that expose the Kaiju's core.
However, No. 9 resists, regenerates quickly, and counterattacks. With his human body at its limit, Isao is vulnerable. The villain takes the opportunity to consume him and merge with No. 2, declaring, "Become a Kaiju again."
The merger and the new enemy
Narumi and Kafka arrive and, for a brief moment, believe Isao has survived. However, Kafka realizes the truth: No. 9 now controls the boss's body. With amplified power, the Kaiju blocks both of their attacks simultaneously.
Kikoru tries to intervene, but the enemy taunts her by showing part of her father's face. Narumi remembers that Isao had already planned to retire after forming the strongest unit and entrusted leadership to him.
The episode ends with No. 9 about to escape, suffering post-fusion rejection, but still strong enough to arrest Narumi and face Kafka at the same time, leaving a cliffhanger for the next chapter.
