The manga Kanojo no Tomodachi ( My Girlfriend's Friend ) has received official confirmation of an adult anime adaptation , scheduled to premiere in 2026. The news came with a celebratory illustration by the author, Jura, marking the series' announcement.

The manga features romance, tension, and provocative situations, following a more adult romantic drama style. It began publication in May 2021 on Kodansha 's YanMaga Web service . Currently, the manga has six collected volumes published.

The adult story follows Takeru, a high school student who begins his first relationship with Kaori after she declares her feelings. However, the situation quickly changes when Tomoko, Kaori's close friend, starts persistently teasing Takeru.

Studio responsible for adult anime

The production will be handled by WWWave Corporation through its Deregula, created in 2023 to adapt intellectual properties from other companies. The company also manages the ComicFesta and has experience adapting works with mature themes, including novels and series aimed at an adult audience.

While new information regarding the team, cast, and premiere date is still pending, the announcement already places Kanojo no Tomodachi (My Girlfriend's Friend) among the upcoming and much-discussed anime releases.
