A few weeks ago, there were rumors that the live-action adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki's classic film, Kiki's Delivery Service, would be directed by Takashi Shimizu, who is known for directing several horror series and films.
Kiki's Delivery Service – Anime will have Live-Action
Check it out:
Then we announced here that studio Ghibli (responsible for the animated feature film released in 1989) said it had nothing to do with the live action. What did you imagine about the cancellation of the project? So yesterday (04/25), we had confirmation that the project for this live-action adaptation is true! The first non-horror film that Shizumu will direct will be based on the novel by Eiko kadono.
Therefore, several Japanese newspapers and websites announced that the adaptation is already scheduled for release in spring 2014.
Synopsis:
Majo no Takkyubin tells the story of Kiki, a witch who has just turned 13, and following her family's tradition, needs to leave home and begin a journey around the world. Together with her talking cat Jiji, she embarks on a journey and arrives in the big city where she gets a job as a delivery girl. Although it seems simple, Kiki will have to face many challenges, but she manages to overcome them in a very fun way.
Finally, the Kiki's Delivery Service manga has six published volumes, but gained even more popularity after the animated film, released on DVD in Brazil and later shown on TV on HBO channels.
