Kimetsu no Yaiba is the highest-grossing film in Japanese history

Record after record. The film Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer: The Movie: Mugen Train) by author Koyoharu Gotouge has become the highest-grossing film in Japanese history. According to the record, the film surpassed the classic "Spirited Away" (2001) from Studio Ghibli.

Based on the manga of the same name, "Demon Slayer" has grossed 32.5 billion yen (R$ 1.6 billion) at the box office since its October premiere in Japan, attracting well over 24 million viewers. Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" has grossed 31.7 billion yen (R$ 1.58 billion) in Japanese cinemas.

Finally, the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime film premiered in Japanese theaters on October 16th
