The film Whoever Steals This Book (Kono Hon wo Nusumu Mono) got a new official trailer this Thursday (31). However, the release will take place on December 26, 2026 in Japanese cinemas.

Daiki Fukuoka will direct , Yasuhiro Nakanishi will write the script , and Keiko Kurosawa will handle character designs and also serve as chief animation director. Michiru Oshima will compose the soundtrack , Kagokan will produce the series , and Yuji Higa Animation will handle distribution .

Synopsis

The story follows Mifuyu, a high school student born into a family of book collectors. Despite living surrounded by literature, she has an aversion to books. However, everything changes when a thief breaks into the Mikura Hall—a library founded by her great-grandfather—and triggers an ancient curse.

Originally published by Kadokawa Shoten in October 2020, the work received a paperback edition in 2023 under the Kadokawa Bunko imprint. Additionally, it was adapted into a manga illustrated by Kakeru Sora, published in Young Ace between 2021 and 2023.
