It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to singer Kouji Wada , known for singing the songs for the anime Digimon . Kouji Wada passed away at the age of 42 on the 3rd due to cancer, which he had been treating for a long time.

Wada's agency will hold a " Kouji Wada Farewell" event for his fans. The event will be held in Tokyo in the second half of this month. More details will be announced soon.

In 2003, a malignant tumor was discovered in the singer's upper pharynx, and he underwent chemotherapy and surgery. After treatment, he made a full recovery. He then put his singing career on hold in 2011 after revealing that he was suffering from the cancer.

Wada returned in 2013. He is known for performing theme songs for the Digimon anime franchise. His big break came in 1999, when he sang the theme song "Butter-Fly" for Digimon Adventure.

Since then, he has provided theme songs for Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, Digimon Frontier, Digimon Savers, and Digimon Xros Wars. He also sang the opening theme song for the original Japanese version of Transformers: Robots in Disguise.

His most recent work was the theme songs for Digimon Adventure tri. , the six-part Digimon Adventure film series. He performed a remake of "Butter-Fly" titled "Butter-Fly ~tri.Version~" for the first film, and similarly performed "Seven ~tri.Version~", a remake of his song "Seven" from Digimon Adventure, for the second film.
