Kyoto Animation has revealed new details about the memorial for the fourth anniversary of the deaths of its employees who died on the day of the fire. According to the announcement, the studio will post the memorial on its official YouTube channel, as it did last year. The video will be broadcast on Tuesday from 10:30 to 10:40 AM, with a moment of silence at 10:35 AM.

The studio originally planned to hold a personal memorial for its staff, but they opted to hold it online. The statement says the team still mourns the loss of their colleagues, but they were able to move forward with the animations thanks to the support of fans. They also ask that people refrain from visiting the area surrounding the former studio out of respect for those involved.

On July 18, 2019, a man named Shinji Aoba set fire to the Kyoto Animation building with 40 liters of gasoline. The fire killed 36 people and injured 34, including the arsonist himself. The accused claimed he set the fire because the studio plagiarized one of his novels, but police investigations say this is all fabricated. He will receive his verdict in January 2024.
