Kyoto Animation has revealed new details about the memorial for the fourth anniversary of the deaths of its employees, who died on the day of the fire. According to the announcement, the studio will publish the memorial on its official YouTube channel, just as it did last year. The video will be streamed on Tuesday from 10:30 to 10:40 AM, with a moment of silence at 10:35 AM.

Originally, the studio planned to hold a personal memorial only among its staff, but opted to do it online. The statement says that the team still mourns the death of their colleagues, but they were able to move forward with the animations thanks to the support of the fans. Furthermore, they also request that people not visit the area around the old studio out of consideration for those involved.

On July 18, 2019, a man named Shinji Aoba set fire to the Kyoto Animation building with 40 liters of gasoline. The fire killed 36 people and injured 34, including the arsonist himself. The accused claimed he set the fire because the studio plagiarized one of his novels, but police investigations indicate this is all fabricated. He will receive his verdict in January 2024.
