At the beginning of the episode, Doug discovers that Dr. Skinner visited a religious community, which has been isolated from the world 15 years ago. The place worships an AI, which can imitate the human neural network, called Naga. When Naga was created, the scientist's brain was used as a model, which is why he is related to artificial intelligence.
In addition, the MIT researcher who created AI is the leader of the religious community. The episode shows that his obsession with Naga was so intense that he abandoned the research center and founded a community to treat it as a deity.
After finding out that Elaina was born, grew up and fled this community, the team members agree with the girl's idea of infiltrating the scene. That way Elaina and Leland go together to look for Dr. Skinner.
When they arrive in the community, they realize that for those people, AI naga is the only thing that matters. Therefore, when they discover that their plan is to investigate the system of artificial intelligence, they are arrested and condemned to a purification, which, according to one of the residents of the community, is the same as being burned alive.
The scene in which they are trapped and the fire slowly approaches Leland and Elaina is uncomfortable, as community residents do not sketch any reaction. The alienation of the people is visible, and for the sake of an AI and their beliefs, they decide to burn, without any remorse, two young people. Even Elaina's mother watches the whole scene, and her only reaction is a small distracted smile.
The group does not find skinner and returns to stake zero
Once again, the team returns to stake zero. Now there are only 17 days left, and they need, more than ever, to find the scientist to save humanity. There are still open questions, but I believe the main one is: Why would Skinner create a deadly pain reliever?
Lazarus 's episodes arouse curiosity, and the characters are fun and charismatic, especially Axel Gilberto. In addition, the animation of the work differs slightly from those released today. The set of elements such as character design, the presence of a narrator and the more sober tone of the colors present in the anime, make the work remember the oldest animations, such as Cowboy Bebop , who is by Shinichiro Watanabe, the same creator of Lazarus .
