A new leak has revealed information about the highly anticipated return of Verdansk in Call of Duty: Warzone. Files found in the game suggest that players will be able to explore the iconic map in Resurgence mode, adding a new dynamic to the experience. Activision had already confirmed in August 2024 that Verdansk would return in the spring of 2025, and now, with the date approaching, more details are beginning to emerge.

Verdansk may return with Resurgence mode in Warzone

Since its launch in 2020, Warzone has undergone several changes. With each new title in the Call of Duty franchise, Activision integrates new mechanics into the Battle Royale, bringing new maps, weapons, and modes. However, many of these additions have not been well received by the community, which has long been asking for the return of Verdansk, the game's first map.

With the arrival of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Warzone received a new omnidirectional movement system in Season 1, but the changes failed to satisfy players' desire to relive the original experience. Constant requests from the community led Activision to confirm that Verdansk would return in the spring of 2025.

Although there is no official date yet, rumors indicate that the return may happen in Season 3, scheduled for March. With Season 2 already well underway, the map's return may be closer than ever. Recently, the data miner known as Reality found files in the game that mention a Resurgence mode for Verdansk. This mode is similar to the traditional Battle Royale, but allows players to revive if their teammates survive long enough.

Furthermore, Reality points out that the version returning to the game may be the original Verdansk, without the changes seen in Black Ops Cold War. This suspicion arose due to a file named “og_verdansk”, suggesting that the map will feature the classic layout, without the accessible stadium and without the underground metro system.

Players celebrate the map's return, but changes to the game may impact nostalgia

The announcement of Verdansk's return was well received by the community, but some players have doubts about how the map will work with the changes implemented in the game over the years. When Verdansk debuted in 2020, Warzone's gameplay was quite different. Since then, Raven Software has added new systems, weapons, and mechanics that have altered the pace of the game.

With these modifications, some in the community fear that Verdansk won't have the same impact as it did at launch. For some players, the experience may not be as nostalgic as expected.

Still, the map's return represents an important moment for Warzone, reigniting fan interest and bringing a new opportunity to explore one of the most iconic settings in Activision's Battle Royale. If the speculations are confirmed, Verdansk could be available in the coming weeks, reintroducing one of the franchise's most popular experiences.
