The American version of the anime and manga Ghost in the Shell in Brazil, better known as “Ghost of the Future”, according to Deadline, DreamWorks is hiring director Rupert Sanders to direct the film. Former Marvel executive “Avi Arad” is one of the producers.
Known for Snow White and the Huntsman, Rupert Sanders has already signed a contract with the studio. DreamWorks also commissioned William Wheeler to write a new version of the script, but there are no plans for filming yet.
For now, without a scheduled date or hired actors, the plot should follow the anime's lines, in which Major Mokoto Kusanagi, a cybernetic police officer, fights to bring justice to the streets of her Japanese megacity, in a dystopian future.
