new Madoka Magica movie has been announced , a direct sequel to the 2013 film Rebellion . According to reports, the new film is in celebration of the franchise's 10th anniversary.
Thus, the film is titled Gekijōban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten (Turning the Tide of Walpurgis). The film's tagline reads: "Now, let's continue the story.".
Furthermore, the entire team from the anime and other films returns, including the original creators, chief director Akiyuki Simbo , screenwriter Gen Urobuchi from Nitroplus, original character designers Ume Aoki and Junichirō Taniguchi, composer Y Kajiura, as well as the animation studio Shaft.
The cast includes:
- Aoi Yūki as Madoka Kaname
- Chiwa Saito as Homura Akemi
- Kaori Mizuhashi as Mami Tomoe
- Eri Kitamura as Sayaka Miki
- Ai Nonaka as Kyōko Sakura
- Kana Asumi as Nagisa Momoe
- Emiri Katō as Kyubey
The event also revealed a new smartphone game, Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story, featuring a completely original story, “Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica scene0”. Additionally, a two-disc soundtrack for the franchise will be available worldwide on Monday via Spotify and Apple Music.
Finally, an exhibition will open in Tokyo at the end of September this year. The film does not yet have a release date in Japanese cinemas.
