Grand Blue manga goes on hiatus due to the author's health

Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka 's Grand Blue manga went on hiatus in the February issue of Kodansha 's Good ! Afternoon . The announcement states that Inoue has been suffering from back pain due to overwork, and the manga will be on hiatus until he recovers.

Synopsis

Kitahara Iori is an energetic young man who has just started college in the oceanside city of Izu. However, when he moves into his uncle Grand Blue's dive shop, Iori encounters the beautiful ocean, beautiful women, and men who love to drink and dive.

Inoue and Yoshioka launched the manga in Kodansha 's Good! Afternoon in April 2014. Crunchyroll is also releasing chapters of the manga as they are released in Japan.

The anime Grand Blue stood out from other comedies by bringing a more adult side, but still with irreverent humor, bringing a frenetic comedy mixed with slice-of-life.

The manga ultimately inspired a 12-episode anime produced by Zero-G, which premiered in July 2018. Amazon Prime streamed the anime worldwide while it was being released. The manga also inspired a live-action film that premiered in Japan in August 2020.
