In a recent interview with Globis , Manabu Otsuka discusses the future of technology in anime and the use of artificial intelligence. Otsuka notes that the use of AI is still in development, but he hopes it will become a useful tool for anime production in the future.
"In the production process, we haven't yet reached the point where AI has taken over from humans and improved efficiency. We're researching the latest information on AI and working on developing how to use it. I hope AI will make it easier to manage the detailed numbers in production."
Additionally, Shuhei Hosono , editor-in-chief of Shonen Jump+ , and Yuki Naito , president of Drecom , also participate in this interview. Then Hosono comments that he will also use artificial intelligence in Shonen Jump+ projects.
"We've been doing machine translation for some time now with a company called Mantra. The language barrier is the biggest obstacle to globalization, so if machine translation is developed, this will be solved. Cartoonists are like general art directors. This time, the AI team will step in, with the manga artist integrating and supervising them, but there may be changes."
