The game will be released for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
Marvel Rivals Season 1 ushers in new content cycles
The game is already demonstrating strong engagement even before its official debut. During the beta phase, the title reached over 50,000 concurrent players on PC. Project director Thaddeus Sasser confirmed that the game will not have versions for mobile devices or Nintendo Switch, focusing exclusively on next-gen consoles and PCs.
Marvel Rivals arrives in December with 33 playable characters, 27 of which have already been confirmed. Highlights include Wolverine, Hawkeye, Captain America, and the Winter Soldier. NetEase also promises to reveal six more characters by the end of the year, with the Human Torch being a strong contender.
New strategic maps and a focus on player experience
The setting will also be a highlight of Marvel Rivals Season 1. The game will feature eight maps available in Competitive and Quick Match modes, as well as an exclusive map for Conquest mode. Among them, Wakanda stands out, featuring stunning visual design and strategic mechanics, exploring Vibranium as a central element.
Season 1's progression system will introduce a Battle Pass , marking a departure from Season 0. With three-month cycles, each season promises innovations that keep fans of the Marvel universe engaged.
With a solid player base and a planned December launch, NetEase is banking on robust and consistent updates to maintain Marvel Rivals' relevance. Therefore, Season 1, arriving in January, is just the beginning of a cycle that aims to fully explore the vast universe of Marvel heroes.
