Marvel Rivals Season 1, the long-awaited update of the new game from NetEase Games, already has a set date: January 2025. The season premiere promises to bring not only new playable characters, but also new maps, collaborative skills and exclusive cosmetic items, consolidating the start of a regular cycle of updates every three months.

The launch of Season 1 follows the introductory period for Season 0: Doom's Rise , which begins on December 6th. NetEase announced the highly anticipated initial season during the Gamescom 2024 opening ceremony, highlighting the arrival of two new heroes: Captain America and Winter Soldier. The game will be released for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PCs.
Marvel Rivals Season 1 opens new content cycles
The game is already showing strong engagement even before its official debut. During the beta phase, the title reached more than 50 thousand simultaneous players on PC. The project director, Thaddeus Sasser, confirmed that the game will not have versions for mobile devices or Nintendo Switch, focusing exclusively on next-generation console platforms and PCs.
Marvel Rivals arrives in December with 33 playable characters, 27 of which have already been confirmed. Among the highlights are Wolverine, Hawkeye, Captain America and Winter Soldier. Additionally, NetEase promises to reveal six more characters by the end of the year, with the Human Torch being a strong candidate.
New strategic maps and focus on player experience
The setting will also be a highlight of Marvel Rivals Season 1. The game will have eight maps available in Competitive and Quick Match modes, in addition, it will have an exclusive map for Conquest mode. Among them, Wakanda stands out, bringing an impressive visual design and strategic mechanics, exploring Vibranium as a central element.
Season 1's progression system will introduce a Battle Pass , thus marking a difference compared to Season 0. With three-month cycles, each season promises innovations that keep fans of the Marvel universe engaged.
