During Gamescom 2013, the game Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII received a new trailer showing the protagonist encountering new and old characters from the series.

In the game Lightning Returns, the main character will have to save the world in just 13 days, and will feature revamped mechanics and a vast environment for exploration. The game will be released in the US on February 11, 2014, with versions for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
