Nintendo has confirmed the return of its enigmatic trial program linked to the Nintendo Switch Online service. This time, the experiment has a unique twist: it will also be compatible with the recently released Switch 2. Nintendo will open registration next week and is expected to excite the gaming community, even with a limited number of 40,000 spots worldwide.
- Genshin Impact 5.8: Confirmed Banners and Characters
- Genshin Impact 5.8: Live Codes and How to Redeem
Nintendo launched the program in October 2024, with highly restricted access and complete confidentiality. Now, it returns under the same confidentiality conditions, with new possibilities for users of the next-generation console.
Nintendo will allow members who subscribe to the Expansion Pack plan to sign up
Participation is restricted to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers with the Expansion Pack. Applicants must be over 18 years of age and reside in countries such as Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, or Spain.
Individual or group registrations can be submitted between July 21st and 23rd. The testing phase will take place between July 29th and August 11th, offering approximately two weeks of access to exclusive content.
Nintendo reinforces absolute secrecy regarding the tested content
The Japanese company reiterated in its official statement that participants should not share any information about the tested content, whether through screenshots, videos, or descriptions. In 2024, Nintendo even used copyright notices to remove leaked images from social media.
However, despite these measures, some evidence of the previous test still circulates online. Records indicate that players compared the secret game to a Nintendo version of Minecraft, focusing on creating structures in shared environments.
We will perform another test in the #NintendoSwitchOnline : Playtest Program. From 8:00 AM PT on July 21st, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members can apply to participate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Expectations are high for new features and improved gameplay.
The gaming community is now eagerly awaiting any hints of new developments. Although the test version appears to be reusing the same software from the previous year, it's speculated that the current version will bring improvements to the gaming experience and new features, specifically tailored to the Switch 2's processing power.
Therefore, the program's return further fuels rumors about future Nintendo projects involving creative and collaborative experiences. Even shrouded in mystery, the interest surrounding the test demonstrates how the brand continues to spark curiosity and engagement with unconventional proposals.
