The move is part of the company's strategy to promote one of the year's most acclaimed titles, cementing Donkey Kong's triumphant return to the 3D universe.
Donkey Kong Bananza themed towel is the new collectible item
The new physical reward is an 8x12-inch rally towel featuring an updated Donkey Kong. The artwork depicts the character being launched in a minecart. Alongside him are elements such as the game's official logo and a destructible barrel. The item is available for 650 Platinum points, but it's worth noting that shipping is not included in the exchange. Additionally, each account can redeem only one of the towel.
Nintendo continues its tradition of releasing themed gifts on the official store whenever it releases a major first-party title. Therefore, fans looking to add this collectible to their collection need to act quickly, as the reward will be removed from the catalog as soon as stocks run out.
Custom icons also come to Nintendo Switch Online
In addition to the towel, Nintendo has begun releasing custom Donkey Kong Bananza icons for Nintendo Switch Online members. The digital items are being released in four weekly waves. The first wave will be available until July 23rd, while the last will be available on August 6th. All icons can be redeemed with Platinum points, continuing the company's tradition of integrating cosmetic content into online services.
This combination of physical and digital items reinforces the appeal of the new game, which marks the second 3D title in the franchise since Donkey Kong 64. Developed by the Super Mario Odyssey team, Bananza takes Donkey Kong and Pauline on a journey through the center of the planet, as they face off against the Void Company, led by figures such as the Void King, Grumpy Kong, and Poppy Kong.
Nintendo should continue investing in the Donkey Kong franchise
The initial success of Donkey Kong Bananza and the positive reception to the giveaway campaign suggest that Nintendo is willing to invest further in the franchise. New 2D and 3D games are expected in the developer's plans, having already signaled interest in expanding this universe based on the expertise accumulated in Odyssey and Bananza.
Therefore, fans can expect more new content and exclusive gifts in the coming months, solidifying the return of Donkey Kong as one of Nintendo's main bets for the new generation of Switch.
