Nintendo has issued a recommendation to buyers of the Nintendo Switch 2, which arrives in stores this Thursday, June 5th. Nintendo emphasizes that users should not remove the factory-applied protective film from the Switch 2 screen, as the material ensures safety in case of impact. This guidance is included in the European safety manual and aims to prevent accidents with shards in case of screen breakage.

A fixed layer protects the user from glass fragments
The Nintendo Switch 2 screen protector is an anti-scatter layer. The material is designed to keep glass fragments adhered to the screen in case the panel suffers impact damage. This prevents shards from scattering and potentially causing injury.
Unlike traditional screen protectors sold on the market, this film comes pre-applied and serves a safety function. According to Nintendo, removing it may compromise the integrity of the console and the user's protection.
The warning is not unprecedented. Previous models like the Switch OLED already featured a similar layer. However, the company has reinforced the warning again in light of consumer concerns about the presence of the film on the new device.
Nintendo provides guidance on ideal temperature and care for the Joy-Con controllers
In addition to the screen protector, Nintendo recommends using the Nintendo Switch 2 in temperatures between 5 and 35 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, another important precaution is to charge the battery at least once every six months, even when the console is stored.
The Joy-Con controllers also require attention. The company recommends using the straps to prevent accidental drops during gameplay. There is also a warning against sticking stickers on the side buttons, as this can interfere with the magnets that attach the controllers to the body of the device.
