Henry Thurlow is a professional animator who has worked on several One Piece episodes with Toei Animation. However, he has now taken on a larger role as director of the anime's 1066th episode. He shared the news on Twitter, emphasizing that he is taking on a significant responsibility as the first American to direct a One Piece episode.

“I, Henry Thurlow, am the director of One Piece episode 1066 airing this month.

As far as I can tell (and as far as the production staff knew when I asked), there has never been a non-Japanese episode director for OP, or possibly any Toei Animation TV series... ever.”

Synopsis:

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a rubber body after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (the Rubber Fruit). Inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Red-Haired Shanks, he becomes a pirate and sets sail across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the Pirate King.
