In celebration of its 15th anniversary this year, the anime adaptation "One Piece" by author Eiichiro Oda released a video revealing the 15 best scenes from the show's 15 years on air. The anime began airing in late October 1999 and currently has 669 episodes.
Since its release, One Piece has become the best-selling manga series of all time in Japan and one of the most popular manga series in the world. It is the best-selling manga in the history of Weekly Shōnen Jump², as well as its most acclaimed title.
In February 2013, Shueisha announced that it had sold 288.8 million volumes of the manga to date; volume 67 set a new record for the largest initial print run of any magazine released in Japan with 4.05 million copies (the previous record belonged to volume 65 with 4 million copies). Volume 60 was the first magazine to sell more than 2 million copies in its first week in Japan according to the Oricon ranking.3 One Piece is the best-selling manga series in history in Japan.
