One Piece creator says some characters are not in the live-action

One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda confirmed in a statement that some characters from his manga will not be present in the live-action. Many characters from East Blue are included in the first season of the series, but it appears that some had to be discarded.

Luffy 's voice actress in the Japanese version, Mayumi Tanaka , shared this letter from Eiichiro Oda during the One Piece Day 2023 event. Additionally, the official Netflix also shared the letter to update fans. According to her statement, Oda says she is already aware that fans will say that some character or scene was missing from this adaptation. However, he will be open together with the Netflix team to receive all criticism because he believes that the series is very faithful to its manga.

Anyway, the main cast of the series includes Iñaki Godoy as Luffy, Mackenyu Arata as Zoro, Jacob Gibson as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji and Emily Rudd as Nami. The series premieres on August 31st on Netflix.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical fruit Gomu Gomu no Mi (the Rubber Fruit). He was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red, to become a pirate and sail on a journey across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the Pirate King.
