One Piece Curiosities
One Piece should have ended by now
First, let's start with this big fact that thankfully didn't come to fruition. The author already said in an interview that he planned to work on the manga for only five years, meaning he didn't intend to drag it out for too long. However, he ended up enjoying writing the manga that he changed his mind and continues to write to this day! This is certainly a relief for all fans!
Nationalities of Each Member
Our dear Oda has also revealed the nationality of each Straw Hat Pirate, if they were from our real world. So, we have Luffy as Brazilian! Zoro would be Japanese, Sanji French, Nami Swiss, and Usopp African! Now, Chopper would be Canadian, Franky North American, Brook Austrian, and Robin Russian! On the other hand, we don't know anything about Jinbe, the newest member of the crew.
Eiichiro Oda Gets Emotional: In short, our great master and creator of One Piece also confessed to crying while drawing the farewell scene from Going Merry! Furthermore, he confesses to getting emotional when writing any sad or melancholic scene. But this shouldn't be a secret, because who hasn't cried like a child when watching one of the sad scenes in the work?
One Piece Curiosities – The Best
The Pirate King
Now, this one's sure to make everyone's jaw drop! Did you know that Gol D. Roger's last words were inspired by a real pirate named Olivier Levasseur? In fact, before being executed, Olivier threw an encrypted necklace into the crowd and shouted, "Find my treasure, he who can understand it!"
So, it's certainly impossible not to remember our dear Roger's last words. And all this reference and duality with real life is simply beautiful and inspiring. It's certainly a great reference, and few knew it.
Origin of the Shichibukai
Now, to round off our list, did you know that the Shichibukai system was also inspired by real life? It's worth mentioning that the British navy used to hire pirates to rob other countries and other pirates. In other words, it's very similar to the services provided by the Shichibukai in the anime.
Finally, everyone, that was our more than special list of the day! I hope you all enjoyed it. Leave a comment with any criticism or suggestions so we can always improve, and see you next time!
