One Piece anime will soon enter one of the franchise's most memorable moments by introducing Luffy . Then Tatsuya Nagamine , the director of the anime, said that Mayumi Tanaka Gear 5 's awakening .

During One Piece Day 2023 , Nagamine spoke about the performance Mayumi Tanaka had voicing Luffy in this special scene. According to the director, Tanaka exceeded his expectations, creating a perfect laugh for his character's new form.
“I thought it would be difficult to do the funny parts, so I tried to reduce the laughter a little. But Ms. Mayumi Tanaka went further and gave us an incredible laugh at Gear 5. And the end result exceeded expectations.”
Furthermore, he also says that he planned an innovative dubbing for this moment because Gear 5 will be a transformation beyond the standards.
“There is this part about 'Liberation', which would be something like freeing yourself from the laws and physics of the world. Therefore, our goal is to push the limits with innovative dubbing.”
Synopsis:
The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical fruit Gomu Gomu no Mi (the Rubber Fruit). Since he was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red, Luffy decided to become a pirate and sail on a journey across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the Pirate King.
