Since her debut in the Wano, Yamato has become a beloved character among many One Piece. At the same time, she has sparked a persistent debate within the fandom regarding her gender identity, as Yamato is sometimes portrayed as female and other times as male. This issue has resurfaced among fans due to a new manga illustration.

One Piece – Manga illustration creates confusion among Yamato fans

One Piece chapter 1084 opens with a color page highlighting female characters like Nami, Robin, and many others. However, Yamato also appeared on this cover, causing confusion among the One Piece fanbase. Many fans consider Yamato to be a man, since the character says he wants to be like Kozuki Oden and is referred to as Kaido's son in a masculine sense.

However, some fans also consider Yamato to be a woman, as the manga and anime portray her as a female character at certain times. This has generated much debate about whether Yamato is male or female in One Piece.

Check out what the fans are saying:

  • Perhaps if you read the One Piece manga, you could understand the fact that Yamato IDENTIFIES as a man. It's crazy that even Kaido himself recognizes this.
  • I don't know why you're so concerned about Yamato's gender, especially since he himself said he identifies as male. Luffy even respects that and calls Yamato "Yamabro"
  • Yamato is a girl who believes she is Oden as a coping mechanism for trauma, and nothing more. Accept it. It's over.
  • "Boo, but Yamato was in the men's restroom" Yes, because that's where Oden would be if he were still alive, she identifies herself as Oden. I just know that Oda would laugh at your reaction.

Synopsis:

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber Fruit). He was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red-Haired, to become a pirate and sail on a journey across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the King of the Pirates.
