One Piece – Manga will be on hiatus for 4 weeks

The official website for Eiichiro Oda's 'One Piece' manga announced on Tuesday (06) that the manga will go on hiatus for four weeks (from June 19 to July 10) from the 29th issue of this year to the 32nd issue of Shonen Jump magazine, due to Oda having a surgery scheduled for astigmatism.

Therefore, the manga will return with the 33rd issue on July 18th. The manga will still be shown in the 28th issue next week on June 12th.

Oda added that astigmatism has left his vision blurry and is affecting his work. He decided to have the surgery after discussing it with his editor last year.

The author began serializing the One Piece manga in Shueisha's Shonen Jump magazine on July 19, 1997, and it has been running ever since.

Synopsis

The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a rubber body after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (the Rubber Fruit). He was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Red-Haired Shanks, to become a pirate and set sail across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the Pirate King.
