As seen in the trailer, the transformation is set to occur in episode number "1017" of the anime, which premieres on August 6th in Japan.
Synopsis
The story revolves around Monkey D. Luffy, a young man who gained a body made of rubber after eating the magical Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber Fruit). He was inspired by his childhood idol, the powerful pirate Shanks the Red-Haired, to become a pirate and sail on a journey across the sea to find the mythical treasure, the One Piece, and proclaim himself the King of the Pirates.
Since the Straw Hat crew entered Wano Country, Luffy has declared war on the infamous Kaido, initiating a fight that has been ongoing for over a year. However, the preview for episode 1069 of One Piece shows that their battle is nearing its end. The video presents scenes of the two characters frantically exchanging blows with their transformations. While Luffy unleashes several attacks with Gear 4, Kaido retaliates with his dragon and hybrid forms.
Furthermore, after episode 1069, the anime will finally adapt the most anticipated moment of the fight, Luffy awakening Gear 5. If the anime doesn't go on hiatus or have a filler episode in the coming weeks, this moment should arrive in episode 1071.
