The director of Cowboy Bebop will direct the new anime from studio MAPPA

Shinichiro Watanabe, the director of Cowboy Bebop, recently announced a partnership with Adult Swim and studio MAPPA to direct his new anime, Lazarus. The anime will be an original series from MAPPA, which is known for animating Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man , and the latest season of Attack on Titan.

Currently, Adult Swim hasn't revealed many details about the anime beyond its name, studio, and director. However, more information will be released during San Diego Comic-Con, which takes place this weekend. Jason DeMarco, vice president and head of action series at Adult Swim, shared a statement regarding Shinichiro Watanabe's involvement in Lazarus.

 “Shinichiro Watanabe is simply one of the greatest living artists, and it’s a dream come true to be able to collaborate with him on a new original series.”

Synopsis:

The anime is set in 2052 and follows a neuroscientist who develops a miracle drug called Hapuna. The drug is a cure for many diseases, but it comes to light that Hapuna will kill anyone who takes it after a few years. As chaos takes over the world, a special team of agents is assembled to deal with the situation.

In addition, the team will have the support of Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick, working on the action scenes, and support from the company Sola Entertainment.
