Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of “special training”, he became so strong that he is practically invincible. In fact, he is very strong – even his most powerful opponents are eliminated with a single punch. Now, the great seer Madame Shibabawa's prediction about the Earth being doomed appears to be coming true as the frequency of monster incidents increases. Simultaneously with Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama begins his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association, while Garou, a man totally fascinated by monsters, makes his appearance.

Developed by the author under the pseudonym One, where it was published in 2009, the series quickly became a viral phenomenon, reaching more than 7.9 million hits in June 2012. The name of the work Wanpanman is a parody of the character Anpanman, the word wanpan is a contraction of wanpanchi (one punch in English). One Punch-Man tells the story of Saitama, an extremely powerful superhero, who became bored with the lack of challenges in his fights against evil and seeks to find a worthy opponent.

A recreation of the digital manga illustrated by Yusuke Murata, it began to be published on the Young Jump Web Comics website in 2012. The chapters are compiled into tankōbon format volumes and published by Shueisha. As well as in Brazil, the manga has been published by Panini Comics since March 2016.

An anime adaptation made by Madhouse was shown between October and December 2015. Later in July 2017 the series was shown with dubbing on Netflix .
