One Punch Man franchise remains one of the biggest hits, both for anime and manga adaptation. Originally, the story emerged as a webcomic created by One , known for its simple trait, but with a narrative that marked the fans.
Recognizing the potential of the work, Shueisha recruited the talented Yusuke Murata to transform One's basic style into a visual show.
Although the manga reached impressive levels of artistic quality, the narrative has faced criticism over time. Now a new controversy has taken over the community: the most recent chapter has revealed that history has returned to chapter 240 , and all chapters launched since October 2023 were discarded as part of the main plot. The reason? The manga will be redesigned again.
In an official statement, Yusuke Murata explained the decision:
“Hello everyone, I'm Yusuke Murata. One of the great benefits of One Punch Man is the possibility of making corrections later. When we work with printed publications, the tight deadlines force me to turn nights to deliver the material. Many times, when I see the result in the magazine, I keep thinking, 'This could have been better here' or 'I should have adjusted that'. This feeling of regret is constant and ends up being part of the work.
One Punch Man is one of my greatest priorities during your serialization. Even after sending the scripts, I keep reviewing and adjusting to minimize my own regrets. I know that one day my skills will decay and perhaps my work is no longer considered enough, but in the meantime, I try to do my best.
I would like to thank you immensely to One-sensei , who always provides me with precious clues through the story and the characters, as well as expressing my gratitude to readers for their patience and understanding.
Murata 's commitment to perfection in his art, even if it implies drastic changes in the plot. Despite the controversies, fans show support, understanding that this effort aims to deliver an even more refined work.
Therefore, this is not the first time Murata rules out the work and starts exactly from chapter 240. In March 2024, the author had announced that he would correct chapters 240 to 247.
