The Broadcasting Ethics & Program Improvement Organization (BPO) is a Japanese group dedicated to receiving viewer complaints regarding inappropriate content on Japanese television. However, this time, a viewer filed a complaint regarding the controversy surrounding Oshi no Ko and how fans are harassing Hana Kimura's family.

"In an anime, there was an episode where a female character on a dating reality show is harassed and contemplates suicide. Because the portrayal evokes a true-life incident, relatives of the woman who committed suicide have expressed their distress online and have received excessive harassment from a subset of the show's fans. The production company and network created the impetus behind these attacks on individuals—shouldn't there be an announcement of some kind to address this?"

Kimura's mother criticized the anime for using her daughter's death to make money, and some fans began criticizing her back to defend the series. Therefore, the BPO complaint refers to those responsible for the production of Oshi no Ko, as the animation studio and the series' creator, Aka Akasaka , have not commented on the case.

Synopsis:

The story follows a doctor named Gorou , a fan of a 16-year-old idol named Ai Hoshino . One day, Hoshino shows up at his office, claiming she's pregnant with twins, but her manager tells her to abort the babies. The idol doesn't want to abort; she wants both children. So Gorou promises her a safe delivery. Little does he know that an encounter with a mysterious figure will result in his untimely death, or so he thought. However, upon opening his eyes in his beloved idol's arms, Gorou discovers he's been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino , Ai's newborn son! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon discovers that the world of showbiz is full of controversies, where talent doesn't always bring success.
