Epic Games has released a demo of a game using the Unreal Engine 5 graphics engine running on the highly anticipated PlayStation 5.

Brian Karis, Technical Director of Graphics at Epic, and Jerome Platteaux, Art Director for Special Projects, demonstrate two key new technologies featured in the game: 'Nanite Virtualized Micropolygon Geometry' and 'Lumen'.

The 'Nanite Virtualized Micropolygon Geometry' technique allows artists to create as much geometric detail as the eye can see. Meanwhile, 'Lumen' is a fully dynamic global illumination solution that reacts instantly to changes in scene and light.
