After an outage that lasted approximately 24 hours, the PlayStation Network (PSN) has been fully restored, allowing PS4 and PS5 players to resume their activities normally. This was one of the longest outages in the platform's history, affecting millions of users worldwide.

Between February 7th and 8th, 2025, the PSN was completely offline, making online matches, purchases, and game downloads from the PlayStation Store. Furthermore, essential features such as cloud saves, messaging, and other online functions were inaccessible. The outage was not limited to the latest consoles, also affecting devices such as PS3, PlayStation VR, PlayStation Vita, and PS Portal.

Given the widespread reaction, PlayStation issued a statement through the Ask PlayStation on Xbox (formerly Twitter). However, as with the first statement, the message was brief and lacked details about the cause of the problem.

PSN has been restored. You can now access online features normally. We apologize for the inconvenience!

To date, Sony has not released any information about what caused this instability. Considering the seriousness of the situation, a more detailed statement may be made in the coming days. However, in previous episodes, the company chose not to reveal technical details about prolonged outages.

Comparison with the drop in 2011

Therefore, this was the biggest PSN outage since the infamous 2011, which left the service inoperable for 24 days. At the time, Sony compensated players by offering free games to PS3. However, there is no indication that the company will adopt a similar stance this time.
