On its official website it was revealed that the title of the film, which opens October 29, will be Death Note Light up The New World . In addition to the name, a film poster was revealed with the 3 central characters of the film and a text that says “A decade after this incident… Six new Death Notes were scattered.”
(left) Masaki Suda will play Yugi Shion , a cybernetic terrorist who reveres Kira.
(Center) Masahiro Higashide will play Tsukuru Mishima , an investigator in the Death Notes case.
(Right) Sousuke Ikematsu will play L's famous detective successor, Ryuzaki .
The Movie revolves around the rule, where there can only be 6 death notes simultaneously in the human world. This rule from the manga had not been used in any adaptation before. The central characters are Light and L's successors and the investigator. The film takes place in 2016, in a highly technological society plagued by cyber terrorism.
Shinsuke Sato, from the live-action Gantz is the director and will be distributed by Warner Brothers.
