Fuji TV announced during the Noitamina Line Up 2014that the second season of Psycho-Pass will arrive on Japanese television screens in October of this year. The film, also announced last year along with the second season, will premiere in July.
The first season takes place in the near future, where it's possible to instantly measure and quantify a person's state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term "Psycho-Pass" refers to a pattern used to measure an individual's state, potentially classifying them as a criminal before they even commit a crime. The story revolves around "enforcement agent" Kougami Shinya, who is tasked with fighting crime in this world.
The original anime premiered late-night on Fuji TV's Noitamina programming block last year. Funimation streamed the 22-episode series that aired in 2012.
