When the Wesker move to a new Raccoon City , the secrets they uncover could spell the end of everything. Resident Evil Capcom 's legendary survival horror franchise , is coming to Netflix .

In a new tweet, the streaming platform says that the first season will have 8 episodes, each lasting 1 hour, directed by Andrew Dabb (Supernatural), but Bronwen Hughes (The Walking Dead, The Journey Is the Destination) will be mainly responsible for the first two episodes.

On the franchise's official website, Capcom provided more details about the live-action version, stating that the story will unfold across two timelines. The first (a past-tense) revolves around two sisters, Jade Wesker and Billie Wesker, 14, who recently moved to New Raccoon City. The Wesker sisters live a normal life until they begin to realize that the city's reality isn't quite what it is and believe their father is hiding something. And that something is apparently what will lead the world to ruin.

The second timeline takes place in the future, more than ten years after the beginning. There are fewer than 15 million "humans" on the planet. More than 6 billion, including humans and animals, will be infected by the T-virus. In this new world, Jade, now 30, will fight for survival while confronting her own past and the mysteries surrounding her, her sister's, and her father's.
