The November issue of Ultra Jump announced that Shirow Miwa , best known as the mangaka of 'Dogs: Prelude', will launch a manga adaptation of RWBY on November 19th, for the magazine's December issue. The first chapter will have a full-color last page, and this issue will also include a card with illustrated manga art. This series is part of a project commemorating the magazine's twentieth anniversary.

Updated: The manga will be a new prequel (set in the past) about the four girls who make up Team RWBY and their entry into Beacon Academy in Valley City. This story is being overseen by Rooster Teeth, and will also reveal "the mystery hidden in four trailers," as presented in Japan.

The famous Japanese "Warner Bros." is licensing the web series RWBY for distribution and merchandising in Japan, including dubbing . Six theaters in Japan will screen the episodes starting November 14th. The "limited edition Blu-ray" will also be on sale on November 14th.
