Tomorrow Studios, the same production company responsible for the success of One Piece on Netflix, has confirmed the development of a live-action of the anime Samurai Champloo. The original 2004 work, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe and produced by Manglobe, blends feudal Japan with hip-hop culture.

Original creator of Samurai Champloo will collaborate

Unlike previous projects, Shinichiro Watanabe is directly involved in the production. Furthermore, producer Becky Clements revealed that they plan to involve a major musical artist early on to define the series' sound. Therefore, the soundtrack will continue to be a central pillar of the narrative, which follows Mugen, Jin, and Fuu in their search for the "samurai who smells of sunflowers."

What to expect from the new adaptation

The project is in the early stages of development. However, market reception has already been high, with several TV networks showing interest. Therefore, Tomorrow Studios intends to update the material for a contemporary audience, while maintaining the anarchic and stylish essence that defines the historical adventure and action genre.
